I-K-2. JULIA ELIZABETH BEESON (1860 – 1940), daughter of Mary Ann Frances Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

Julia Elizabeth Beeson was born on 30 January 1860 in Keener, Etowah County, Alabama. [1] She died on 22 March 1940 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, and is buried there in the Arcadia Cemetery. [2] She married Sidney Algernon Conger of Arcadia on 1 March 1889 in Bienville Parish. [1][3][4] Sydney was born on 14 July 1856 in Woodville, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. [2] He died on 14 January 1937 in Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, and is buried in the Arcadia Cemetery. [2][4][5]

According to the census, in 1900 Syd, born in July 1856 in Louisiana, and Julia E., born in January 1860 in Alabama, lived in Bienville Parish with their children Beeson S., born in February 1890 in Louisiana; William E., born in October 1893 in Louisiana; and Mary Thomas, born in September 1897 in Louisiana. Syd was a merchant; he and Julia had been married for ten years; Julia had had three children. In 1910 Syd, aged 53, and Julia, aged 49, lived in Arcadia with their children B., age 20; Ed, age 16; and Mary, age twelve. Syd was a furniture merchant, and Julia was a schoolteacher. In 1920 Syd, age 69, and Julia Elizabeth, aged 59, lived with their son Ed, aged 25, in Arcadia. Syd was a merchant. In 1930 Syd, aged 74, and Julia, aged 70, lived in Arcadia. Julia was a furniture merchant. [6]

Children of Julia Elizabeth Beeson and Sidney Algernon Conger:

i. Dr. Syndey Beeson Conger was born on 9 February 1890 in Arcadia. [1][7][8] He died on 29 May 1949 in the Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. [9][10] He married Harriet May Herr. [1] Harriet was the daughter of Charles Dennis Herr and Emma I. Engles—apparently members of the Mennonite community. [11] She was born on 10 May 1885 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. [11][12, 1888][13, 1888] She died on 6 October 1971 in Los Angeles County. [12]

In 1911 Sydney was a medical student in the class of 1914 at Tulane. [14]

According to his World War I draft card, in 1917 Sydney lived in Chicago. He was single and a surgeon. He claimed an exemption from the draft due to defective hearing. He was of medium height and build with brown hair and brown eyes. [8]

He practiced medicine at 809 Madison Street in Chicago from 1916 until his death, except for serving in the army medical corps during World War I. [10]

Harriet served in World War I from 7 December 1917 to 19 August 1919. [15] She served overseas as a nurse from 26 October 1918 to 19 August 1919. [13]

According to the census, in 1920 Sidney, aged 30, lived in Chicago in a boarding house. He was a doctor. In 1930 Sidney, aged 40, and Harriet H., aged 39 and born in Pennsylvania, lived in Oak Park, Cook County, Chicago with their daughter Julie Ann, aged five. Sidney was a surgeon. [6]

In 1937 Sydney lived in Oak Park, Illinois. [4]

In 1940 Sidney, aged 50, and Harriet, aged 52, lived in New Trier, Cook County with their daughter Julia A., aged 15. Sidney was a doctor in private practice. [6]

According to his World War II draft card, in 1943 Sydney, aged 59, lived in Wilmette, Cook County. [7]

In 1950 Harriet H. lived in Wilmette with her daughter Juli A., who was 25. [6]

Children:

ii. William Edmond Conger was born on 7 October 1893 in Louisiana. [1][2] He died on 22 June 1959 and is buried in the Arcadia Cemetery. [2][18] He married Inez Parker on 20 June 1921. [1][19] Inez was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lamar Parker of Roanoke, Alabama. [19][20] She was born on 26 July 1897 in Wedowee, Alabama, died on 21 August 1986, and is buried in the Arcadia Cemetery. [2][21]

William owned Conger's Funeral Home and Conger's Furniture Store in Arcadia. [18] Inez was known for her garden. [21]

According to the census, in 1930 William, aged 36 and born in Louisiana, and Inez, aged 32 and born in Alabama, lived with their sons Billie, aged seven and born in Louisiana, and Sidney, aged five and born in Louisiana. William was a furniture merchant. [6]

In 1950 William, aged 57, and Inez, aged 53, lived in Arcadia with their son Sydney L., aged 25. William managed a furniture store and funeral home; Sydney was a clerk in a furniture store. [6]

Children:

iii. Mary Elizabeth Conger was born on 4 September 1897 in Louisiana. [1] She died on 14 March 1993 and is buried in the Arcadia Cemetery. [2] She married A.P. White. [1]

Mary lived in Oklahoma. [1]

In 1937 Mary was married and lived in Baton Rouge. [4]
